Zephyranthes candida – White Rain Lily

The Autumn Crocus or Rain Lily is native to South America. They grow to about 30cm tall. The striking white flower appears in late summer to late autumn. They burst into flower immediately after significant rain, hence the common name.

Care: Autumn Crocus require moist soil with good drainage. The plants are not picky about soil type and can thrive even in poor soil, though they do better when compost or humus is incorporated into the soil before planting. They prefer to be in full sun to part shade. The plants are not frost tolerant.
If you live in a cold climate with frosts, lift up the bulbs and store them in a cool, moist, dark place.
