Sagina subulata also known as Irish Moss is a deep a green and wonderfully soft moss like ground cover. This plant has a deep and fibrous root system that makes it tolerant of short dry periods and unlike ordinary moss, with the added bonus that Irish moss can also tolerate full sun! This plant is excellent for rockeries and miniature outdoor landscapes such as bonsai or between pavers on walkways. Once established clumps of this plant can be divided and planted in small chunks with some of the fibrous root system to make more of this lovely green carpet. This plant is rather slow growing however much faster and easier to grow to grow than ordinary moss.
