Description: The Jacaranda is a spectacular, fast-growing tree native to Central and South America. The tree has soft green foliage, which turn yellow in winter before they fall. In mid to late spring, they are covered with purple, bell shaped flowers. They grow to 15m high and 12m wide. It can tolerate drought, temporary wet conditions, and occasional light frosts.
Care: Plant in rich, well-drained soil in a sunny spot with protection from winds. Water the soil around it regularly in summer. Never prune a Jacaranda, because this will promote vertical growth that will destroy the magnificent, spreading, dome-like canopy.
