Description
The Black Genoa Fig tree is one of the most popular and highest yielding fig trees. These trees produce two delicious crops a year. The fruit of the Black Genoa is dark red inside, and the skin is purple-green. They are fast growing, deciduous trees growing to 3-5m tall and 3m wide, but can be hard pruned in winter to keep the tree small and fruit accessible.
The Black Genoa fig tree is hardy and frost tolerant, but grow best in dry, warm climates. They prefer a well-draining, light soil in a sunny position, keep well watered when they are fruiting. Add compost, and feed with chicken manure pellets regularly and mulch.
